In the midst of a birthday party the other night, I got into a conversation with someone from the Google+ mobile team who believed that all interactions will now exist on mobile devices. I decided to fill him in on the next trend that I’ve been monitoring for some time now: desktop computing.

Everybody is currently focused on building mobile apps. Some investors are even suggesting that entrepreneurs do mobile sites/apps prior to launching their desktop website. While this makes sense, desktop computing is not going away. Until all corporations begin moving their employees to iPads, there’s nothing wrong with going after your market on desktop if that’s where they are.

The bored at work market continues to support a little known company called Facebook. While mobile presents a massive opportunity for entrepreneurs, desktop continues to be a valid market. Don’t ignore it!!
